Sustainibility
Since 2015, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia regularly issues Sustainability Bonds referring to social and environmental projects. The target group of these bonds are investors who value sustainable investments. The concept of Sustainability Bonds is closely related to the sustainability strategy for North Rhine-Westphalia.
The State of North Rhine-Westphalia issued its 11th Sustainability Bond referring to social and environmental projects in October 2024. This Sustainability Bond has a volume of 1.25 billion euros and a tenor of five years and refers to 53 suitable projects in the State's budget plan 2024, which strengthen the State's sustainable development. The projects were selected based on the criteria described in the framework published in 2021. The projects come from areas such as education, research, health, local public transport, climate protection and digitalization. More information about Sustainability Bond #11 can be found here.
